The Nissan 300ZX was one of the original Japanese supercars. Competing against the Toyota Supra, Mazda RX7, and Mitsubishi 3000GT for dominance, these cars helped establish the import tuner scene within the US. With their powerful, twin turbocharged motors producing nearly 300hp in standard form, It wasn’t long until the tuner world was modifying these vehicles to their extreme limits.
While capable of producing prodigious power, they have always been one of the more challenging motors to work on, because of their complexity and packaging. As a result, we wanted to swap in motors that were more “tuner friendly”. A prime example would be swaping in Toyota’s legendary 2JZ-GTE power plant. Capable of holding +600hp on the factory bottom end, this motor is a good option to use to produce massive, reliable power!
